Samantha Humphries, an Oregon-bound senior at Flower Mound High in Texas, recaps her performances at New Balance Nationals Indoor at the TRACK at New Balance and Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, Mass. Adeline Bennett, Alexandra Fox, Nicole Humphries and Samantha Humphries placed second in the 4xMile Relay in 19:28.07, lowering Flower Mound's national record of 19:37.78 from 2022, but finishing runner-up behind the Carolina Cavaliers from Cuthbertson High in North Carolina, which clocked 19:22.70 to achieve a new all-time prep mark. The same quartet also ran 11:20.65 in the distance medley relay, including a 4:38.92 anchor leg from Samantha Humphries, to finish second behind the 11:17.50 effort of the Carolina Cavaliers. Both teams not only took down the indoor national record of 11:32.68 achieved by Michigan's Purple Track Club (Ann Arbor Pioneer) in 2022, but also ran faster than the absolute all-time mark of 11:22.23 established in 2011 by Harvard-Westlake High of California at New Balance Nationals Outdoor in Greensboro, N.C. Samantha Humphries capped the meet by finishing fourth in the championship 2-mile race in 9:54.86, becoming the third prep female athlete from Texas to produce a sub-10 effort in the indoor 2-mile, joining Elizabeth Leachman from Boerne Champion at 9:44.15 and Brynn Brown of Denton Guyer at 9:51.0.
