Charlotte Bell Anchors Record-Breaking Performance In 4xMile As Carolina Cavaliers Trim 15 Seconds Off Previous Best; American Fork Logs No. 2 All-Time In Boys Race By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor The Carolina Cavaliers from Cuthbertson High in North Carolina smashed the national high school record in the girls 4xMile on Thursday's opening day of New Balance Nationals Indoor at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston. The team of Josie Schihl, Stella Kermes, Justine Preisano and Charlotte Bell took the record down by 15 seconds and ran 19:22.70. Kermes ran a 4:50 split on the second leg and Bell anchored in 4:41. RESULTS | VIEWING INFO | VIDEOS Flower Mound TX, which held the record of 19:37.78 since Natalie Cook anchored the team in 2022, also went faster than that by running No. 2 all-time 19:28.07. Kinetic NY (Saratoga Springs) was third in 20:01.61. American Fork UT's boys, with senior Daniel Simmons, ran the second-fastest 4xMile in prep indoor history with 16:43.21. AF is just the second team to go under 17:00, which is 4:15 per carry, and trails only Newbury Park CA (16:29.31 in 2022) on the all-time list. Simmons' anchor leg split was 4:05. Carroll (Southlake Carroll TX) was second in 17:08.34, good for No. 6 all-time. Plainfield South of Illinois was third in 17:21.71. |
