Charlotte Bell Anchors Carolina Cavaliers To Fastest Prep Girls DMR In History With 4:37.49 Close, Pressed All The Way By Samantha Humphries Of Flower Mound

For the second day in a row, the Carolina Cavaliers not only broke a national high school record in a distance relay, they destroyed it. 

On Friday, the girls from Cuthbertson High in North Carolina won the New Balance Nationals Indoor distance medley relay title with 11:17.50 -- a time that is 15 seconds superior to the 2022 record by Purple Track (Ann Arbor Pioneer MI).

Incidentally, the Cavaliers broke the national 4xMile record Thursday by 15 seconds. 

The DMR performance, including a 4:37.49 split for anchor Charlotte Bell, was also faster than Harvard-Westlake CA's legendary outdoor record of 11:22.23 from the 2011 New Balance Nationals Outdoor. 

And for the second day in a row, Flower Mound TX pushed the Cavaliers so hard that they couldn't relax. 

Flower Mound was just a step or two behind the entire way and Samantha Humphries clocked 4:38.92 with the baton to bring her team home in 11:20.65, or No. 2 all-time. 

Addy Ritzenhein anchored Real Training (Niwot CO) with a 4:41.56 closing 1,600 and wasn't even part of the picture at the end with her team finishing third in 11:37.67 to become the 11th-fastest program in history. 

Ridgefield CT, anchored by Steven Hergenrother's 4:04.67, won the boys DMR title with US#3 10:01.14, edging Westfield NJ (10:01.92). 

Abby Faith Cheeseman of The Webb School (Bell Buckle) TN outclassed the field in the girls 5,000 meters and won by 33 seconds in 16:19.82. 

Golden Eagles of New Jersey won the boys sprint medley relay in a time of 3:28.38.

Union Catholic NJ won the girls SMR 3:54.62 and had a second team break four minutes and place third. 

Taylor Farrell from the Corning Track Club NY won the 1-mile racewalk in a meet record time of 7:05.14 that was slightly faster than the winner of the boys race, Rowan McDonald from Maine Racewalkers (7:05.96).

Jesse Imemba from Jump Lander TX cleared 7-0.50 to win the boys high jump title. 

EJ Brown of Elkhorn South NE won the girls high jump crown with her clearance at 5-8.75.
